Regardless of the size of your school, a committee with the support of a faculty advisor is vital. Someone should fill each of the following positions:

 

Blood Drive Coordinator

We suggest that a junior and senior work together to fill this role. The responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate all campaign details with your Blood Center representative.

  • Keep your school administration & faculty advisor informed.

  • Direct the other coordinators and monitor all aspects of the drive.

  • Work with your promotion coordinator and Blood Center representative to plan an assembly or educational program to promote the drive.

  • Afterward, evaluate the success of the blood drive and schedule the next one.

 

Promotion Coordinator

The person in this position will:

  • Promote the blood drive among students, teachers and school staff, starting four weeks in advance of the drive.

 

Recruitment / Scheduling Coordinator

The person in this position will:

  • Persuade students and teachers to give blood.

  • Schedule appointment times for people to donate.

  • Distribute permission forms and reminder slips.

  • Do PA announcements reminding students to bring permission slips, ID, and to eat well and drink plenty of fluids the day before the blood drive.

 

Recognition Coordinator

Find ways to recognize those who participated in the blood drive.

 

Volunteer Coordinator

Work with the blood center representative to coordinate volunteers to staff the blood drive. Student volunteers are needed to help in loading/unloading equipment, monitor donors after they have given blood and to provide hospitality.
