Lincoln’s Challenge Blood Drive Exceeds Goal

Twice a year, Community Blood Services holds a blood drive with the Lincoln’s Challenge Program in Rantoul. LCP is a program run by the Illinois National Guard on the former Chanute Air force Base. The program assists high school drop outs from around the state to obtain their GED and prepare them for the future. The success rate for this program is outstanding. Most students go on to the military, college, a technical school, or join the work force. CBSI is proud to be a part of this program by conducting our bi-annual blood drives.

On October 14 and 15, the blood center collected a total of 101 units of blood at LCP, well above the goal of 90. The students are always friendly and cooperative with our staff. They genuinely enjoy helping others. We look forward to next blood drive in May with a new class of enthusiastic blood donors.
