Katy's
Korner
We are so
excited to share this news with you - Katy Hubbell of Fisher has returned
HOME! She was released from Texas
Children's Hospital on August 24. What a happy day for the Hubbell
family! Although she's home, she still needs to be "checked out"
by her docs in Chicago on a regular basis. Katy will spend the next few
months building her immune system and regaining stamina. Her blood counts
are quite good so she just may have aplastic anemia licked!
Blood donors
be proud - you helped save this little girl's life. During the course of
her treatment, Katy needed 37 transfusions of red
blood cells and 78 transfusion of apheresed platelets.
More
exciting news - in October, Katy, Mary and CBSI Donor Relations
Coordinator, Trish Haworth, will be traveling to Orlando! America's
Blood Centers will kick off their year 2000 campaign "Pints
for Half-Pints, Giving Kids a Second Chance at Life." ABC asked
that each blood center choose a child to represent their blood center. (We
didn't have to think twice!) Katy's picture will appear in a year 2000
calendar. As part of the event, each child (and escorts) will receive free
entry to Sea World! The departure date is Wednesday, October 13! Tune into
your televisions. You might catch a glimpse of Katy meeting Shamu!
If you haven't
checked Katy's
website in a while, you're
missing out on some great new pictures.
