Immanuel Lutheran Honors Matt Rennels On Thursday, August 26, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charleston held a blood drive in honor of a member of their church family. Matt Rennels, age 19, of Charleston was involved in a one car accident in March of this year. Matt suffered severe injuries - so severe that Matt needed more than 40 units of blood to save his life. This lifesaving gift would not have been available to Matt if blood donors had not taken the time to donate blood. The drive, which Walter and Margaret Lowell coordinated, collected 53 units of blood. The theme behind the blood drive was "A Celebration of Life." Walt and Marg have won awards for coordinating blood drives; their experience really showed in how all the drive's details were handled with ease. A large group of volunteers helped throughout the drive, making donors feel pampered. We attribute the drive's success to these coordinators and to Matt's wonderful church family. A huge thanks to each person who helped make this drive such a great event.
