Littleton and Oklahoma City - Blood Donors Help!

The recent tragedies in Littleton, Colorado and Oklahoma City necessitated many blood transfusions - thankfully, donated blood was on hand to treat the injured survivors of the shootings and tornadoes. Reports from community based blood centers in Denver and Oklahoma City (members of America's Blood Centers) state that they were able to meet the needs of these patients with blood that had been donated before the tragedies, by donors within their communities. The message is clear; blood must be readily available before a disaster strikes. In the aftermath, many people came forward to donate blood in an effort to replace the blood that was used. More that 1,300 people donated at Denver's Bonfils Blood Center on April 20th, two days after the high school shootings.
