Katy's Korner
A new feature of Bloodlines

Did you happen to catch the evening news on April 23rd? If you did, you probably recognized the face of the little girl on her way to Texas for "new bone marrow"! It was none other than our own Katy Hubbell of Fisher, Illinois. Katy suffers from aplastic anemia and received her bone marrow transplant on May 7th. Katy and her mom, Mary, will be in Texas throughout the summer. We will report on her progress each month in Bloodlines.

Katy's transplant is going well. She is having trouble eating, as all the pre-bone marrow treatments have given her nausea. This is an expected side effect and the doctors are working to help her get the nutrients her body requires through an IV.

If you would like to send Katy a card or letter, you can send it to the address below:

Texas Children's Hospital

Bone Marrow Transplant Unit 7N
Houston, TX 77030
Attention: Katelyn Hubbell

By the way, Mary sends out an update on a daily basis. If you would like to have this update forwarded on to you via e-mail, just say so! Please contact Trish at 367-2202, 1-800-217-GIVE or e-mail at thaworth@bloodservices.org.
